Byzantine and Dragonscale chainmaille earrings, necklaces and bracelets

This post follows my last in this developing series on European chainmaille weaves. Also part of that family are Byzantine and Dragonscale weaves. These are new weaves, developed for use in jewellery, rather than being used for armour.

Byzantine chainmaille jewellery

Byzantine chains are comparatively simple, and have a varied effect depending on the metal and size of the rings used. Tiny rings can create a very delicate effect, whilst larger rings create a bolder, more masculine feel.

Dragonscale chainmaille jewellery

The Dragonscale weave is intricate and time consuming, using large numbers of rings to make each piece, in two sizes. It is classed as an advanced weave and makes good bracelets and earrings. Varying the size of the rings in this weave will change the effect slightly - smaller rings create a tighter weave (but add a lot of time to making the bracelet); larger rings create a bolder effect. Different colours can make this a fun pattern to play with!
